THE POE MUSEUM WEDDING VENUE

What was the inspiration behind turning the historical Poe Museum into a venue for weddings?

The main Enchanted Garden. The Poe Museum opened to the public in 1922, featuring the Old Stone House and Enchanted Garden.  The Founders were inspired by Poe’s poem “To One in Paradise.”

What is the biggest crowd pleaser at The Poe Museum?

We had lots of couples lately who have been simply just Edgar Allen Poe fans but the natural beauty of this place always wins our couples heart. There is always something blooming in the garden- all year around.

How many weddings do you book in a year?

We book around 20-25 weddings a year, an average of 75 people attending.

What is the busiest time of year for weddings?

May and October are the busiest months for weddings in the garden. We are open for rentals seven days a week. The museum is closed for the public on Mondays.

What else do we need to know about this amazing garden wedding venue?

We have two black cats, Edgar and Pluto, in honor of Poe’s love for cats.  The cats love to be in the garden and of course, they can be put away if requested during events.

What would an average wedding rental cost be?

We have a few different rental package options starting at $250/hr up to a 6hr package which would cost about $1500. For more info, please contact us at Garden Rentals page.

Do you offer chairs and other rentals?

We DO NOT offer chair rentals, but we can provide our brides with a list of preferred vendors in the area.

What is the favorite part of your job?

I love seeing the bride’s dresses. Eeek. I’ve seen so many gorgeous gowns already:-)

Do you have any funny stories to share?

YES! In one of the very first few weddings in the garden where they had a dog in the ceremony. The dog was the ring bearer, and the dog had a huge head, almost as big as a bear’s head. :-)It was too funny! We do allow pets here, and of course, our black cats can be put away.
