If you are a photographer or just a hobbyist who loves to take pictures you might wonder where are the best places to shoot at in your area. If you are in Richmond, VA, you have come to the right place as I am going to share the best locations to photograph at in Richmond, VA.
I am always on the run and look out for new places for my photo sessions. I have some favorite ones that I am going to share with you today.
Alright, are you ready to dive in and learn the best locations to photograph at in Richmond, VA?
Crump Park or also called Meadow Park, located in Glen Allan – Mountain Rd is perfect if you are looking for the rustic backdrop. I love this park as it has cute little wooden barns, fences, and beautiful trees.
ECHO LAKE PARK
Echo Lake Park is located in the Short Pump area close to I-295. What a great little park for photography sessions. I chose that park for my fall minis last year, and it was gorgeous. It has a lake, lots of trees and you can walk around with your clients to snap your pictures on the best spots.
GAINES MILL PARK
I discovered this fantastic park sometimes last year. It’s on the East End of town. This cute little park is pretty hidden, and most people don’t know about it. I wish nothing better than this location for a photo shoot. It has an open field, wooded areas, rustic look….love it all. I had shoots here in the spring, as well as in the fall and both season, the photos were incredible.
BELLE ISLE
Belle Isle is a very popular location not only for a photoshoot but recreational purposes as well. It’s in the heart of Richmond and if you have never been there, please go and walk that footbridge that leads you to the Island. Great experience. We love to go and walk around there as a family, but I adore this location for a photoshoot as well.
ARMOUR HOUSE
What a perfect location and wedding venue as well. Lots of goodness and little corners for great shots. Armor Park is located on the East End. You probably want to call ahead to make sure there is no wedding scheduled.
THE MILL AT FINE CREEK
I found this location through one of my clients. They got married at The Mills at Fine Creek and she wanted to have her maternity shoot done at the same location. Beautiful place with a creek, wooded areas, a nice brick backdrop also make this place unique. Loved it!
LIBBY HILL PARK
In the heart of Richmond, Libby Hill Park is the best possible location with the view of the city and the river.
GREAT SHIPLOCK PARK
I know I already said that I love all these parks, but this location is far my favorite spot of all! This place has everything. City, river, train track, open area….everything that you wish for when it comes to the diversity of backdrops. Great Shiplock Park is located in Richmond, off of Main St. It’s a tiny little park but man, you get it all in one place.
BLUE BEE CIDER
Behind the Blue Bee Cider in Richmond. Hidden place! You would never know it’s there:-) If you are looking for urban, cool backdrop, this is your place to be! Loved it!
RIVERFRONT, CANAL WALK
Canal Walk is a great location for seniors, families, kids and you name it!
TREDEGAR, RICHMOND
Tredegar is located in Richmond, right where Belle Isle is. I had a shoot here last year, and I could not love it more. The brick, the urban, the river, the big doors…I think I want to take my family here for a shoot.
KINGS CHARTER MANOR HOUSE
Kings Charter Manor House is a wedding venue, and it happens to be in my own neighbourhood. Lovely little spot for a photoshoot. Beautiful landscape and lovely spots to photography couples, families and children.
ASHLAND TRAIN STATION
If you are looking for a train track backdrop, the Ashland train station is your spot. We love to visit there with the kiddos. It’s a cute little place and has lots of potential great spot for photos.
if you walk down to the Randolf Macon Collage, you find a fountain where you can snap a few great shots.
MIDLOTHIAN MINES PARK
Mines Park is located down in Midlothian. One of my clients requested to have a shoot there and it was just beautiful. It’s a very small park but you will have lot’s of great areas to take pictures at.
BRYAN PARK
Bryan Park is near Richmond and this park is great to shoot at in a spring. Bryan park has a fantastic azalea garden and it’s beautiful when the azaleas are blooming.
